Disregard the 4th of July, acquire points: Spelunky dated

It’s been a long time coming, but the Xbox Live Arcade version of Spelunky finally has a release date. And it’s somehow, miraculously, not very far away. Xbox Live’s Major Nelson has posted a schedule of what’s coming up for the service which lists the 1200-Microsoft Point game for Wednesday, July 4.

For those of you who missed out on the original free version, I’ll kindly link back to Anthony Burch’s thoughts on the matter for the twentieth time. Basically, Spelunky rules. This new version gives the game an updated look, four-person multiplayer, a new soundtrack, and more.

I’m trying to think of other XBLA releases I’m anticipating more, but I’m failing miserably. Looks like my plans for the Fourth of July have been made.
