18 years later, the Moon from Majora’s Mask still freaks me out

Between the threat of impending doom, creepy-faced characters, and an all-around unsettling tone, Majora’s Mask did a real number on many of us as kids. I had to work up my courage across multiple Blockbuster rentals, making a little more progress each time. Even then, I never did stop the Moon.

I’m a grown adult now and the ghastly thing still makes my skin crawl.

Nintendo released a few new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate screenshots today featuring the Moon. It’s no longer just a background element. We’ll be able to unleash the nightmare as an assist trophy that “comes crashing from the sky and delivers a terrible fate to players in the center of the stage.”

I would sooner turn off all assist trophies than risk seeing this monstrosity on the battlefield.
